Conservation and Preservation Grant Writing Workshop
This workshop will include a review of the general guidelines and a step-by-step
review of the instructions for preparing a 2013/2014 Conservation and Preservation Discretionary Grant application. Included will be
a description of the types of activities and projects that will be able to be funded
through the program.
Considerable time will be allowed for questions, and representative examples of
successful (and unsuccessful) applications from previous years will be discussed. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to successfully write a grant application that meets program requirements.
The Discretionary Grant Program provides modest financial support for projects
that contribute to the preservation of significant research materials in libraries , archives, historical societies and other agencies within the State of New York, whether by conducting surveys, improving collections storage environments, reformatting or treating collections or other preservation activities described in the guidelines.
The purpose of the New York State Discretionary Grant Program is to encourage
the proper care and accessibility of research materials in the State, to promote the use and development of guidelines and standards for conservation/ preservation practices , and to support the growth of local and cooperative preservation
programs.
